Carpel
Tunnel Syndrome
This is pain felt in the hands and
forearm usually in mid and late pregnancy and it also
disappears on its own within a couple of weeks of
birth.
The thumb, middle and index finger and
half of your ring finger may feel numb and/or get pins and
needles. The pain may travel up to the wrists and forearm. The
pain aggravates at night and may also increase on movement of
the thumb.
This is caused by the swelling in the
hands leading to compression of the nerve (median
nerve).
Tips:
• Keep your hands on a separate
pillow while sleeping.
• Do gentle exercise of the wrist like circling and
flexing.
• Drink plenty of water.
• You can also go to a physiotherapist to learn specific
exercises.
