Pregnant Dads
How does pregnancy affect your
sex life
You must remember that the baby is well protected by the
amniotic fluid and amniotic sac. Uterine muscles are strong and
they protect the baby. A thick mucus plug seals the cervix and
protects from infection.
In a normal, non-complicated pregnancy, sex is not
prohibited in the first trimester if you both are game for it.
But you have to avoid too much stress during the act. But in
high risk cases and difficult conceiving, your doctor might
advise to avoid it.
It is not the doctor alone who may hamper it but also the
mood swings of your wife.
First trimester hormonal changes are quite
dramatic and she may just not be enthusiastic about it. It
would be good to talk to her frankly about it and give her time
and space.
Second trimester brings better days and it
is a perfect time to reconnect withers. If required you can
also take a short trip and enjoy together.
Third trimester may again be difficult
basically because of the physical discomfort and the baby bump
in the abdomen. Whatever it is, it is up to both of you to
device a way out, and be adventurous. If intercourse is proving
to be more of a pain than a pleasure, there are other ways for
you to both get sexual satisfaction. It may be the perfect time
to re-explore other ways in which the pair of you can feel
close.
Think back to the time when you did "everything but" have
intercourse. It was exciting then, and it can be just as fun
now.
Mutual masturbation, oral sex, or vibrators can be just as
much fun as intercourse.
