WHAT IS MISCARRIAGE?
Miscarriage or abortion is spontaneous termination of
pregnancy before 20 weeks of gestation or a birth weight of
500gms. It can be Spontaneous or
Induced for various reasons
After 20 weeks, loss of pregnancy is called stillbirth.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF
MISCARRIAGE?
Not every cramp or every drop of blood is a sign of a
miscarriage. Many women bleed during pregnancy and go on to
have healthy babies. It is an important warning sign, however,
and you should notify your doctor about this.
In the case of multiples, it's very possible to miscarry one
twin and carry the remaining twin safely to term.
The symptoms are -
- Bleeding
- Cramping and/or abdominal pains
- Passing of grayish or pinkish tissue or blood
clots
- Cramps
- Loss of tissue
- Pain that starts from back and moves to the lower
abdomen
- Pain that comes and goes
