What are these
infections?
These are group of infections which can happen to anybody
but is so named only when the pregnant mother and the fetus are
affected by it.
- It generally causes infection in the first time. In the
latter pregnancies mother is immunized for it.
- Severity of infection in mother is not related to the
severity of the infection in the fetus.
- The earlier the mother is infected in pregnancy, more
the severity of infection in the fetus.
- The manifestations in the fetus are almost the same in
all these infections, and so the scan can pick it up if
done at the right time.
